Appraisal Institute - www.appraisalinstitute.org - The acknowledged leader in residential and commercial appraisal education, research, publishing and professional membership designation programs. Search their site for accredited appraisers, publications, seminars, and continuing education. This professional, easy-to-navigate site offers a comprehensive resource for appraisal.


Marshall & Swift - www.marshallswift.com - Specializes in cost data for new construction, reconstruction, repair and remodeling for both residential and commercial markets. They serve the insurance, appraisal, assessment and construction industries as well as government agencies on all levels. Their publications and software for cost estimating and replacement cost analysis are based on their extensive worldwide research. Of special interest to Exchange users is their Commercial Estimator software: a free demo can be downloaded from their web site.


e-appraiser - www.e-appraiser.net - A searchable database of appraisers constructed to facilitate lenders and others in finding qualified appraisers in their local market. A basic listing is free; a preferred listing costs $10 or more per month (as of this writing). You must register before you can search their database.


Appraisal Network - www.appraisal-network.com/ad.htm - A database of over 83,000 appraisers that can be searched for free. The comment field included with the standard contact information contains very useful information about each appraiser. Appraisers can post their information for free as well.


The Appraisal Foundation - www.appraisalfoundation.org - A non-profit organization that provides information about professional appraisal standards and appraiser qualifications. Go straight to the sitemap. Learn more about the profession and the regulations governing it, find contact info for your state's Real Estate Appraiser Board or even request a speaker. There are also several useful pdf's that you can download for free.


The Appraisal Subcommittee - www.asc.gov - This site provides information about the Federal oversight system regarding licensed or certified real estate appraisers. You can use the link on their home page to sign up for automatic notification of disciplinary actions against appraisers. Use the site map to find anything else. Best features: Check state requirements or find state web sites and email addresses.


Appraisal Institute of Canada - www.aicanada.org - The self-regulating body for professional real estate appraisers operating in Canada. Find rules and regulations, appraisers, etc. Download any of the dozens of pdf's from the Document Library which is found by clicking on the Resource Center tab.
